A letter to Revival Disability Magazine
"Disabilitiy can be a hard pill to swallow and most of all digest for the person in question and society in general. We're the most ignored, marginalized identity of all.
The aesthetic of Disability in the world of perfect alignment size shape and proportion defined as the norm, can a difficult view in the eyes of the world but if I am being brutally honest to myself : The learning process taught us to view, process and understand beauty and handsomness under certain boxes and a rigid understanding of body image.
The real origin of a disability revolution starts with changes in our minds and hearts in the way we see different people in different worlds through the continued process of learning and unlearning, through construction and de- construction of ideas, mindset and the able-bodied gaze.
The Revival Disability Project has been a catalyst in this gruelling but rewarding process which has been a healing experience for me, along with my disabled comrades."
Thank you
Long live the resistance,
Adarsh.
