Why Do We Need Empowerment As Disabled Women?

Stories for, and by Disabled Women!

When we asked the Women Of Revival, Samidha, Anusha, Shivangi and Kavya, why they need empowerment as disabled woman, this is what they had to say :

Samidha Mathur says : "Being Disabled means feeling alone in a world full of people regularly. Empowerment helps me overcome loneliness. It helps me feel comfortable in my body, my ability and my power - no matter how different it looks from everyone else! It helps me see myself as brighter, stronger, confident and worthy."

Anusha Misra says : "Empowerment helps me to take up space, and speak up for what I believe in. It helps me bloom into becoming more of myself everyday."

Shivangi Anil says : "Empowerment means being able to talk about issues that matter to me and make the world a better place. It also encompasses getting opportunities to become financially independent."

Kavya Mukhija says : "Empowerment is a gift for me by me. It is a reclamation of my space while making that space accessible. Empowerment is the realisation, acceptance and pride of being disabled, unapologetically!"

About Power In My Disability : A community driven initiative to empower disabled women by providing access to services. We believe that there is power in the disabled experience. It is a sibling project of Revival Disability Magazine.
